What are; would be the ramifications of changing the Pre-Windows 2000 name
for a Windows 2003 Active Directory?

The Domain/forest levels are Windows Server 2003
What if anything will happen to User Authentication, AD Computer Accounts,
etc...

Wins & DNS running pretty good. Currently when a user logs onto the
network, the client workstations are using the Pre-Windows 2000 for the
Domain....

Just curious.

There is no straightforward way to simply change the Pre-Windows 2000 (NetBIOS) AD domain name. You would need to migrate to a new domain/forest with the NetBIOS name that you want. There are ways to change the FQDN domain name, using the rendom tool, but that's not easy either.

Why do you want to change the name?

Is the AD DNS (FQDN) domain name a single label name or in proper form?

Just reflects on NT4 name and would like it to reflect newer Domain Name -
not important really.

But thanks for the advise.

Ok. I was curious because I've never heard anyone ask this before.

You are welcome!
