Just solved another Wi-Fi problem with one of these do-it-yourself antennas.
Instead of 1-2 bars of signal my friend now has a solid 4 bars (as reported by
Windows XP), and her intermittent outage problem is now completely solved.
(Network Stumbler confirms an 8+ dBi improvement in signal and SNR.) Cost me
zero to make since I already had some (HVAC) metal tape. Highly recommended.
p.s. The reduction in interference from neighbors may well be as important as
the improvement in signal quality.
