pptpd - what is localip?

In the pptpd config files, what is localip supposed to be? Isn't that just
the address of the machine running the pptpd server? If this is the case,
then why does the config file specify that you can have a range there?

In PPP the 'client' computer can request a particular IP address that the
'server' can decide to honour or reject.

In 99.99% of the cases you should not bother with this.
