The time sequencing of kernel/pppd messages isn't as synchronized as
might be desirable, but the meaning is clear: The kernel doesn't
support MPPE. That might be because the patch is flawed, or the
ppp_mppe module isn't getting used for some reason.
Do you have the line
alias ppp-compress-18 ppp_mppe
in /etc/modules.conf? You might be able to upgrade your modutils and
not need this line.
