Do you by any chance have a DNS problem (missing trailing dot on FQDN in a
zone file)? I have seen some people make that mistake and end up showing
both machine.domain and machine.domain.machine.domain for MX. I use
postfix in SuSE 8.2, but in 8.0 I am using sendmail.

I haven't had any msgs linger in postfix, but if I made a mistake with
sendmail I would just stop it, remove the bad message(s) from the queue,
and then start it.
