Working for the RM I can get post office BB for £21.95pm inc line rental and
3 months bb free. I understand the service is provided by BT wholesale
anyway so is there any downside to this. I know that I will not be able to
use 18866 or similar services but for the odd overseas call I could always
use skype.
Have been with NTL for 8 years but now under the Virgin brand service is not
the best. Currently bundle 1, unlimited bb and 24/7 calls inclusive over bt
line. Premium rate phone number to report faults to and if cps fails you pay
for all calls.
As I have to sign for a 12 month contract I would appreciate any advice
before making the jump. Anybody using the post office bb service?
Mick

I can't speak for HM's RM but when the criminal/incompetents in charge
of Telecom first started offering Surf you had to pay 50 p per minute
to time indefinite to not sort out setting up problems that I couldn't
cure with 5 different installation disks.

I ended up with AOL and am only now considering moving. But that's
because they are now owned by Talk Talk the worst non French ISP.

Bloody hell, Talk Talk is worse than BT???

Clad you mentioned the 12 month contract Mick I was supposed to sign
one also but it never got returned to them came across it the other
day at the back of a drawer when I was serching for something else.I
am wondering if I could jump ship without VM being able to do anything
has I do not think they can hold me to a 12 month contract that I have
not signed and accepted.

There is no legal reason why the contract should not be legally binding.

Not sure how you would go on there but they seem to go for every penny they
can out of you. When the cps service went down they wouldn't even reimburse
me for the cost of the calls made via BT to Virgin faults. This will be only
my second change in ISP's ever and the first for 8 years, only hope I am
doing the right thing.

Bu legally binding does not mean legallly enforcable or even practically
worth pursuing.

Possession is 9/10ths of the law..

If you crap out on a contract, they can su you r damages. Or withhold
something from you that you have let them have, like a deposit, or the
release code of a line. Or just possibly give you a poor credit rating.

YOU can cancel the whole phone line and install a new one on a different
number and leave them hanging if you like.

I don't see how they could without the contract being signed and they
have never pestered me for it either on the other hand I may just
drop down to the 2Mb service to the end of the contract that isn't in
place .

Only you can know that Mike but for what it is worth when you consider
the STM being imposed on customers and the most terrible support that
any ISP provides plus the slow speeds provided etc you cannot worsen
yourself by moving plus you will probably save money also VM are not
cheap my mind is made up anyway .
I am doing well this month I have sacked two VOIP providers and would
like to really get rid of VM if I could .

Strictly speaking, both are owned by Carphone Warehouse but are run
separately.

It is also much worse than AOL..The latter has just slashed its tariffs for
existing customers, presumably to avoid widescale defections.

Wouldn't want to get involved with carphone warehouse, bought two phones off
them with £10 of calls on Orange. Orange refered me back to carphone
warehouse who refered me to Orange. Lost out on that deal so didn't even
think of going with what looks like an attractive current package from
orange. Once bitten twice shy
