I've got an 1 Mbit line, through some tests at dslreports.com I found
out this:

Download speed: 894 kbps
A 109.1 KB/sec transfer rate

Upload speed 888 kbps

While downloading the speed is at maxumum 119 kbps...
My provider says that about 128 KB/sec is normal for an 1 Mbit line, but
I don't trust the answers as the support personell doesn't really know
anything about Linux...

I suspect my configuration is incorrect anyway...

Could someone please help?

Yes.

Yes. 128 KB/sec equates to 1024 kb/sec, i.e. your theoretical maximum
bandwidth.

All the information you've provided is pretty much self-consistent. I
think you're confusing kb (kibi-bits) with KB (kibi-bytes). They're
different by a factor of eight.

You're right! I'm slightly brain-damaged after using Windoze too long
(1990-2000/2001) --> 2001 (RH 7.1) --> Etc ...
Been to long away from the network part ... But thanks for explaining it
to me anyway...

Well, I'm away to tell my neighbours that they now can get themselves
ADSL and how to secure it. But we know how? right?

Olav
