Possible OT: Repeating emails

Hello all
I use Thunderbird 1.5.0.10 in which I have set two separate email
accounts on two different ISPs, the second of which I use for things
like newsgroups etc.
This second account keeps downloading 13 spam emails from the server
over and over again. I have set a delete from server filter for all of
these, but they still keep coming every two or three minutes.
Is this a problem with TB or with the ISP ?
Anyone any ideas ?
TIA
stuart

I know that problem not from Thunderbird, but general experience, when
the message download gets interrupted. Does your ISP offer a webmail
interface? Then you could try deleting the mails via that.

Can you try with a different mail client?

Otherwise you can always do it the direct way (replace the stuff in
square brackets with the data you have in your thunderbird
configuration, the stuff in round brackets is the explanation):

telnet [pop3 mailserver] 110
(This builds up a connection to the mail server)

user [your username]
pass [your password]
(You should get responses from the server after each line)

list
(This lists all messages by number and size)

top [message number] [number of lines]
(This displays the complete headers plus the number of lines in the body
so you can check whether this is actually a message you want to delete)

dele [message number]
(You can now delete the messages one by one)

quit
(This should be obvious)

Gunde

Thanks for the reply and advice.
I deleted the mails through webmail and they dont download any more.
Unfortunately, though, I now have a new lot of spam that keeps
downloading. Have deleted them through webmail so will see what
happens now.
