I will endeavor to keep this short. I work for a really
big ecommerce company in Seattle. I cannot mention its
name.
We just got custom made wireless vpn devices. They will
not work with the mn700! I love the mn700, but I am going
to have to change to another brand because I need
connectivity to work. I also know Microsoft no longer
markets the mn700 and this might shut the door on getting
any interest in this problem much less a fix.
However, our network group looked into why the mn700,
which a LOT of us own, doesn't work with the new wireless
b devices but linksys, dlink, netgear, etc do.
What do you guys think? Any chance of a fix?

I've spent some quality time with iVPN devices and the
Microsoft MN-700 home firewall/router and found the
specifics of our problem.
What is happening is the iVPN device is requesting an IP
address via DHCP, the MN-700 is offering one, then when
the iVPN device accepts the offer the MN-700 NACKs the
iVPN device for that IP, telling it that it can't use the
address. This appears to be a problem with the firmware
on the MN-700. The device I used to test is running the
latest firmware and given that this is discontinued
product I suspect we won't see an updated firmware for
it. I've dropped a note to our Technical Account Manager
at Microsoft with regard to this issue however we don't
have a support contract in place for consumer grade
devices so I'm not expecting much.
A possible workaround, aside from replacing your MN-700,
would be to turn off the DHCP server on the MN-700 and
run a DHCP server on another device that is connected to
your network (and is on all the time).
I'll update the list if I receive more information, but
right now it's not looking very promising.
