possible to have two wireless routers connected ?

I have two internel networks with Linksys wireless routers, with
different subnet addreses , one is 192.x.x. the other 172.x.x.x.
I was wondering if there was a way to connect them in a way one
could being wirelessly connected into one connect to another ?

I was told by Tech support no

need an access point to extend range
