i want to foward my port for incoming tcp on winmx. the
default on winmx is 6699 should i just foward my port for
the router to 6699? will that work or should i change it
to a different number does it matter?
should it be persistant or triggered?

Persistent & use the same port for inbound & outbound if you are using
any file sharing application. The application tells the users which
port to send to but if it changes in the router you might as well not
have the port forwarding entered into the router.
