I am trying to use RRAS to access a small custom server
on port 8000 (this can be changed to any port number)
over the internet.

The custom server is connected to my private network
which is connected to the internet through my main (NAT)
server.

I have configured port fowarding (Incoming port:8000,
Private address:192.168.0.109, Outgoing port:8000) on the
main server but it doesn't work.
..

May be port 8000 is bloked by the ISP, for incoming traffic?.

ok so i tried port 21351.. just a randomly. and that
doesn't work either. short of trying 65000 other port
numbers, what else could be wrong?

Assuming that the ISP has indeed blocked port 8000,
then he must have blocked other non standard ports, too.

If port 110 is free on the Server, then first try by using port
110. (Though it might also be blocked by ISP, chances are less.)
If it works on 110 then ISP is blocking other ports. If it doesn't
work on port 110 then the problem could be internal or ISP
is blocking 110 as well.

What kind of internet access is there on the NAT PC?
Is it through a modem or through a Network Card?
Is there a router also? If yes, then many routers have
in built firewall and might be clocking the ports, did you
check this?

If there is a Network Card for the internet connection,
it will be having a static IP? If yes, then to check if the
problem is internal or external, you can temperorilty
remove the cable from that NIC, and connect a PC
to it through a cross over cable. Set the PC to get
static IP in the same subnet, in which the Server
NIC gets the static IP. On the NAT Server, NAT
Firewall, enable ICMP echo.
First check that the PC can ping the Server with the
IP of the server NIC.
Then check from that PC if you are able to connect
that customer server, on the port you have configured
through NAT.
If you are able to connect, then there is no problem internally,
and it's the ISP who is blocking the ports.
