Hi,
I recently installed a wireless network at home with the WGR614v2.
Surfing, for example, is working fine, but I need to forward a few ports
for other software.
Here's my problem:
How to forward ports to dynamic IPs? (Router is DHCP Server) Or should I
enter a static IP to every computer? Or is it possible to run one
computer with static and the others with dynamic IPs?

Thanks for help,
Matthias

When forwarding ports, static IPs make life a lot easier, yes. And there
no problems using static and dynamic IPs at the same time. Just make
sure that the static IPs are not inside the range used by the DHCP
server.

But Windowsnetworking won't work then anymore? Isn't it more intelligent
to make all PCs static (only 3 at my home)

From the perspective of applications etc., there's no difference between
static & dhcp addresses. A dhcp address *MAY* change on occasion, but not
necessarily so. You can configure your dhcp server for very long or
permanent leases. For example, my IP via cable modem is dhcp, but
essentially static because it rarely changes. In fact, in the past couple
of years, there has been only one address change, due to reconfiguring the
network.

No, everything should still work, regardless of IPs being static or
dynamic or a mix. If you can't see one computer just after you've
changed the IP address to a static address, just wait a few minutes to
allow the change propagate through the network. Each computer maintains
it's own list of which machine has what IP address, and when there's a
change, it may take some time before the lists are up to date.
