i currently just set up a new 2003 SBS machine to act as a firewall/gateway
to the internet, we currently already have an apache webserver (linux) that
we want to continue to use and do not need the built-in microsoft webserver
in 2003. i have been looking through manuals and googleing everywhere but i
cannot find where to port forward port 80 to that ip address i need. i did
find a filter that i though would do the trick, but i can only pull up the
machine locally by ip only not by its url address. is there something im
missing? can this even be done?

thanks in advance

assuming you have two NICs and enable NAT, this may help. quoted from
http://www.ChicagoTech.net
How to configure 2000/2003 NAT services and ports

Open RRAS>IP Routing>NAT, right-click external NIC>Properties>Services and
ports, select a service or add a port. To forward to an internal IP, type IP
address in Private address.

Wouldn't you use ISA server on a default SBS installation to manage port
mapping?

If this is SBS2003 Standard, you don't get ISA.
For me, I don't like to make the server do any routing and prefer a single
NIC. I'd get a hardware firewall appliance and handle it all through there,
but that's just me.

I'm glad to see this pot here. I am dealing with a similar issue: I'm going
to be putting a new SBS2K3 server into a network that is currently using a
hardware router/firewall and port forwarding. Initially I liked the idea of
using the SBS as the interior router, but in an effort to keep it simple, I
think I'm going to go for the single NIC solution and it's good to know there
are those that agree with this approach.
