Sure it isn't 3389? That's the TCP port for Remote Desktop.

Remote desktop Protocol is port 3389.

You can always customize the port, so he might have changed it to 33389.

I would use that non/standard port for my ssh tunnel out and into the
network.
Something that no one would be looking for or would think of using.

Define "allow to connnect".

Saying "yes" to a port number is not the same as "publishing" and internal
machine to the outside.

The method being attempted is horrible. The right way to do it is with VPN.
Once the VPN connection is made, the internal machine is accessed directly
by the IP# using the RD Client. The first "layer" of access is controlled
by controlling who is able to connect to he VPN,..and then the second
"layer" of authentication is based on who has the credentials to satisfy the
RD Prompt.

Exposing RPD to the Internet is just,...hmm,...let's just not even go there.

A Port scanner would find that port in a heartbeat.

And show what it's being used for.

Security by obsecurity isn't security at all.

correct me if I am wrong\
Remote desktop is used to run the program on a remote pc(which we are
intending to do), VPN is to use remote PC's files and docs,
thanks anyway, the problem was we were using a wronge gateway, We were using
the Cisco's gateway rather than the ISA server's Gatway, I am not sure why
the Cisco's gateway didnot work, But thanks to all of you ,
