Hi, im wondering if anyone could please help me out!!

I have been with tiscali since February this year. upto mid April, i
was getting speeds of 3 - 3.5 mb, and i was happy.

However, since mid April, my connection speed has dropped to 1mb!!

I have spoken with Tiscali's alleged Tech team who advised 1mb is now
the max i will get.

Spoke with BT Wholesale who advised my connection should be 3 - 4 mb.

Who do i believe??

I really, really need more than a 1mb connection. Trying to play on
Xbox Live is impossible!! I only use my broadband for xbox.

I am using the Siemens Gigaset SE587 wireless modem from tiscali.

Here are the stats from my router.

DSL Status:
Driver Version: 1.75
API Version: GS_API_626
Firmware Version: E.25.41.18 A
Dsp Version: 0x000000e1

US Trained Rate: 448 kbps
DS Trained Rate: 1056 kbps
Local Line Attenuation: 63.5 dB
Remote Line Attenuation: 31.5 dB
Local SNR Margin: 12.5 dB
Remote SNR Margin: 12.0 dB
Operation Progress: 0x000000ad
State: Showtime
Rx ATTNDR: 1232000
Tx Cell Rate: 1056
Rx Cell Rate: 2490
Overall Failure: 0
PMmode: L2L3Allowed
Local ITUCountry Code: 0x0000b5ff
Auto Start: true
Whip Active: Inactive
Profile: BT
Standard: BisPlusAuto
Utopia Interface: Level1
Rx Auto Bin Adjust: Disable
Tx Attenuation: Bis_0DB
Detect Noise: Disable
Capability: A2/A2+

If anyone could provide some help, i would much appreciate it.

Thank You in advance

Tiscali throttled me to half of the slowest dial up speed and denied
they had done it. Eventually they released the line and I went with a
proper ISP.

Your attenuation figures are high.
Looks like your line has deteriorated.

So it looks more like a problem with my line than with Tiscali??

What if i went for a provider like BE or SKY?? As they provide up-to
20Mb connection, will this increase the speed i get?? Or is there
something i can do about the Line Attenuation??

Thanx again!!

Not sure if this makes a difference, but i have just plugged in a old
speedtouch ADSL modem & done a speed test. Getting 1748Kbps
download....

Could it be the router??

Yes.. Could also be the line though. Whether or not Tiscali will escalate
that to BT for you is another thing altogether. IME, Tiscali, Talk Talk et
al take a LOT of convincing! Have you also checked wiring inside your home?
Just plugging into the master socket with everything else out will do that.

Only have one line in the house (no extensions) & i get the same speed
if i plug the router in to the test socket :-(

Spoke with Tiscali who refused to contact BT, said i have to do it.
Spoke with BT who said Tiscali have to report it. I really cannot be
f****d to talk with Tiscali again, they do not listen!!

What about switching to a faster proivider?
