Poor performance on ES101TX

Hi there

I recently got hold of an ES101TX -- 8 port 100baseTX fast ethernet switch.

They're quite old now, and in order to get them to run at full duplex,
you have to switch off auto negociate, and force 100mbps/full-duplex on
each port.

You also have to do the same on all the client machines, else you get an
abismal performance. If you set the clients to auto-negociate, the
transfer rate is roughly 800kbps, forcing the clients to 100baseTX
full-duplex slightly remedies the situation and increases the transfer
rate to 24Mbps but obviously that's no where near what this switch is
meant to be capable of.

Firstly, is anyone aware of any firmware going around for this device?
Perhaps a flash might remedy some of the problems I'm facing?

Can anyone offer me any advice with it? Perhaps someone who has been in
a similar situation with this device?

Presently I have flow control switched off, should I perhaps switch it
on and force it on all the client machines?

Any help much appreciated,

Jim
