Hi,

I saw Plusnets new £14.99 service which is capped at around £24.99 for heavy
users. This sounds perfect for me as I don't use the internet for anything
heavy like large downloads.

I clicked on the "Move for free" promotion but when I try to sign-up it says
there is an activation fee of £58.75? Am I doing something wrong or is it
not totally "free".

You can move for free but sign-up to a new account requires an activation
payment. Basically plusnet are offering to pay the migration charge
necessary to change from your existing isp to plusnet (BT are reducing the
migration charge:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/04...and_migration/ )

If you already have adsl with someone else you can move to plusnet for free
to do this follow the instructions here:

While I KNOW PlusNet is very good, for light use you could be better off
with Metronet.co.uk
They charge just £11.75 p.m. with 200Mb included.
Additional 800Mb will cost £2.35, so that's £14.10 to compare with PlusNet.
And you will save when you are on holidays !

Martin

Hi,

The Migration Fee is free, however the first page of the registration
doesn't distinguish between a migration and a normal signup (hence it
saying there is an activation fee). Later on during the process it will
ask if you wish to migrate so the activation fee won't be charged in this
case.
