Plusnet DNS problems?

Sorry to post here, but I find the Plusnet news server unusable, so am
utilising my 'individual' server...

I'm getting an increasing number of "page not found" messages visiting a
variety of web sites today (too numerous to list) When I 'refresh' the
page, or re-enter the address, the pages seem to load.

I'm running XP Pro on 2 of the machines, and XP Home on the other, into
a Plusnet Broadband Plus connection, and/or a Plusnet Premier
connection.

This is occurring on all 3 machines I have, so it's not machine
specific, and I have also re-booted my Draytek 2600 router to which 2 of
the machines are connected, and the Netgear DG834G to which the other is
(I have 2 ADSL lines here)

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Yes, I have the same problem. In fact it has been happening for several
days.

Like you I have seen this on different machines and different routers so
I don't think its a local problem here.

I refuse to use Plusnet's news servers to check service status, and
given their web pages so often don't reflect what is *actually*
occurring, I guess I'll just have to wait for it to become a) a bigger
problem for more people so Plusnet sort it out or b) wait until Plusnet
realise the cleaner has unplugged a router, and plug it in again.

Hi,

I haven't seen any other reports of DNS issues today, if something goes
wrong with DNS I'd usually expect a flood of calls coming into the CSC.
Which DNS servers are you using? We have four, so it might be worth
swapping them over to see if that makes a difference, they are

212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50
212.159.6.9
212.159.6.10

I'm using 212.159.13.49/50

I have tried all the usual suspects like ipconfig /flushdns; rebooted my
routers, and cleaned out the cache(s) of Firefox and Opera.

However, this occurs on 3 entirely different machines, via 2 different
routers, so I'm going to take a lot of convincing the problem is at my
end.

I'll try the different DNS IP's and see... but if some are working, and
others aren't, then that's Plusnet's problem yes?

Yep, it would likely indicate a problem on our side, but if it's something
that only affects one or two of the DNS servers then that's easier to
spot. Or it could be a symptom of a different problem, for example a
dropping connection. Whatever the problem is, it might not be one of the
easiest to diagnose, but I'm going to keep a look out for anyone else
seeing the same.

I'm convinced it's not a problem at my end. I can't even get to some
sites now. I think i'm going to piss off to another ISP, and bite bullet
so far as cost is concerned.
