The personal details of a further 8,000 people alleged to have shared
music or films illegally have appeared online.

A list of more than 8,000 Sky broadband subscribers and a second of
400 PlusNet users surfaced following a security breach of legal firm
ACS:Law.

Strange that shit like this follows PlusNet around...

You can't blame Plusnet or Sky for the shitty and arrogant ignorance that
ACS Law have shown to cyber security. If you protect a network with a tin
hat, then fail to securely encrypt customer data *whilst masquerading a
law firm* then you deserve the full might of the Data Protection Act to
kick your arse with a hefty fine.

However, it is worthy of note that Plusnet (AKA BT) and Sky are happy to
provide customer data to such firms - so you may want to consider this
when choosing an ISP.

BT have also done so. A named member of the BT Legal team sent
UNENCRYPTED spreadsheets of data to ACS.

At least Plusnet have had the decency to inform their customers.

Where exactly does it say that Plusnet and Sky are happy to provide
customer data to such firms?

BT == PLUSNET. Save the 'how good though art' sermon for someone retarded
enough not to know this.

Still the shit is simple. If you've not engaged in illegal activity on
your broadband, this is a non story.

Personally I look forward to the day when digital theft is punished like
physical theft and those involved are locked up for it based on the value
of what they have stolen. EG:
A couple of hundred films (retail value £15 each) £3,000
A couple of hundred albums at £8 each £1,600
A couple of dozen games at £30 each £720
Say five full software packages at £250 each £1250
What's that run to? £6,570 - that's got to be worth a 6-12 month prison
sentence if it were a benefit payment or real goods?

Lock the thieving fuckers up so the rest of the decent internet users
don't have to concern themselves with the shit these pikey cause.

In the large fucking database of contact details that ACS:Law has 'lost'.
Having read some of that email correspondence, I can't say they were
kicking and screaming about it. You not read it before making your bold
'where does it say that' statement? No? I thought not.

pssst .. when a sentence ends with a ? then that signifies it is a question
rather than a statement.

On the contrary, sonny. Your responses simply confirm that you're out
of your depth and couldn't answer my question.
