Hi there,

has anyone got Plusnet ADSL? I was wondering how long it takes for the line
checking to be completed and the line to be acitvated ?

Thanks for your time,

AAL.

I ordered last Thursday, and my line was converted from HH to POTS with
ADSL yesterday. 7 days from start to finish. Very impressive IMO.

Pete.

I ordered on a Wednesday and was up and running on the Friday, 2 days later.
If you're having a Home Highway conversion done, it'll take longer.

Bear in mind that BT can be slow in reporting the line is enabled. I was
impatient and asked Plusnet to activate my line as soon as saw the
negotiation LED light on my router. It took 5 days.

Things can be a little delayed if you only sign up with a direct debit as it
takes some time for this to be created; otherwise a relative of mine also
did a HH -> Broadband Homestart recently in little over a working week
including the HH ripout, DSL activation and DSL kit delivery...

I pre-ordered, and it became usable on the BT predicted activation date, about
a couple of months ago. No probs since then.

Rod.

I have just had it fitted today, and it was working at around 2PM.
I requested service on the 24th of last month.
Initially I requested 1Mb.

A couple of days later I was told that it couldn't happen until after
a date was set for HH conversions by BT (the go-live date for teh
exchange was 5 nov).
On 5 nov, the order was resubmitted to BT, to fail on the 7th (excessive
loss).
On the 7th, I asked for 512K to be ordered.
On the 12th, they confirmed an appointment for today, and it was fitted.

So, around a week isn't bad.
I still wish that whoever coded the ADSL guesstimator hadn't been
wrong about my line being able to support 2Mb, but over 4 miles isn't
too bad.
It's on the ragged edge, another decibel or half, and it wouldn't have
gone in.
But, as long as it's the right side of the ragged edge, I'm happy.
I suspect that it would not have worked without the engineers going
over almost every joint in the cable to find a fault that was causing
problems with my HH box.

My conversion from HH to ADSL delayed things. I had placed order with
Plusnet on 23rd October.

Fortunately on 6th November, I spotted a BT van nearby one morning
before going out and found
that teh guy had come to do the conversion - I got no warning from BT or
Plusnet.
However he was very quick and efficient and left me with a working
system in about an hour including various calls to the exchange to get
the jumpering done and my original number re-allocated.
I ordered a DreyTek 2600We the same afternoon from Broadbandbyer (on
phone rather than online - very helpful service). It arrived next day
about lunchtime and I was immediately up and running as Plusnet had done
everything very efficiently.

All in all very good except for lack of information about BT visit.

Plusnet working fine now.

Mike

Mine was 4 days with Zen from making the initial call to going live. That
was in a new house with no previous history but that shouldn't make a
difference really.
