I have just had it fitted today, and it was working at around 2PM.
I requested service on the 24th of last month.
Initially I requested 1Mb.
A couple of days later I was told that it couldn't happen until after
a date was set for HH conversions by BT (the go-live date for teh
exchange was 5 nov).
On 5 nov, the order was resubmitted to BT, to fail on the 7th (excessive
loss).
On the 7th, I asked for 512K to be ordered.
On the 12th, they confirmed an appointment for today, and it was fitted.
So, around a week isn't bad.
I still wish that whoever coded the ADSL guesstimator hadn't been
wrong about my line being able to support 2Mb, but over 4 miles isn't
too bad.
It's on the ragged edge, another decibel or half, and it wouldn't have
gone in.
But, as long as it's the right side of the ragged edge, I'm happy.
I suspect that it would not have worked without the engineers going
over almost every joint in the cable to find a fault that was causing
problems with my HH box.
