Hello,

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing intermittent drops in
connectivity by Plus.Net?

Over the last four weeks I am continually having to reconnect to their
service.

Plus.Net's response to my query being:

"Our LLU Supplier have advised that they have been unable to find any
issue with the service. I have checked against our connection logs and
can still see you as experiencing the intermittent drops in connection
so I have now further escalated this issue with them."

David

What's the problem then PN have told you that their LLU supplier
denies it's happening but they can so have reffered it back to their
LLU for more thurough investigation.

Now if you monitored PNs own internal support usenet group you would
have seen that you are not the only one by far, it's happening to a
large number of their LLU users..

Seems to me that the safest job at Plusnet is the guy who updates the
outages logs ... now there's a job for life !

Thanks for the note!

The discussion forum covers the topic / problem well.

I was not aware that I had been migrated from BT to Tiscali LLU, but
now the penny has dropped. I have been paying for PN's premium
service, but since the migration I have not been receiving a premium
service.

I wonder what benefit the customer is supposed to get from the LLU
migration?

David

1. An alternative way to get "up to 8 Meg" service
2. Come to think about it, there is no number 2!

What does Plusnet get out of it?
1. Cheaper backhaul services than if they used BT.
2. (At the moment) Lots of customer service headaches with Tiscali LLU lines
dropping out like nobody's business.

That's probably because Plusnet ceased to be a premium provider long ago.
They're a cheap, adequate provider for the masses. Nothing wrong with that,
but premium they ain't.

If PlusNet have migrated you to LLU without two advance warnings, you
could - and should - demand to be migrated back to IPStream (where at
least you can get a univerally accepted MAC key.

If you are suffering prolonged LLU connection problems, you should also
be entitled to a refund. Check out this PlusNet FAQ - and keep a copy
handy so that you can swat ignorant CS agents with it:

So for the 80% to 90% who are lighter users, the 50% extra speed when they
send a 2 KB e-mail will make *what* difference to them, in truth?

A. not very much, if at all...
