Hi all...I'm new, and I've learned alot from other posts...hope someone can
help!
I have a new computer (hp Pavilion slimline s7530n PC running Windows XP
Media Edition SP2) and DSL (sbc-provided wireless 2WIRE 1701HG Gateway
router), but "little or no connectivity" on my "wireless network connection"
in the "network connections" window. I was on the phone for over an hour
with sbc-now-att tech support last night and was able to connect to internet
via USB cable plugged from computer to router (not exactly wireless!) b/c I
didn't have the ethernet cable.
IPCONFIG says:
Ethernet adapter Local Area connection:
Media State: Media disconnected
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix: gateway.2wire.net
IP Address: 192.xxx.x.xx (do you really need all the #'s?

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.xxx.x.xxx (almost same # as IP address, last 3 are
different)
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix: (blank here)
Autoconfiguration IP Address: 169.254.xxx.xxx (do you really need all the
#'s?

Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: (blank here)
Let me know if you need more info...hoping to get wireless capability b/c I
want to move the computer to another room w/o having to use an extra long
yellow cable (doesn't go with my decor!) or USB (I need to save my $ for
gas!). Thank you!
