I wonder if anyone can help??.. I've tried everything I can think of.

I'm trying to get KPPP to connect to a dial-up ISP without passing
username & password... essentially emulating what I can do in Windows
Dial-up networking.

I've tried everything, but PAP or CHAP won't even let me try without a
username.

It works fine in Windows DUN... I simply leave the username & password
empty, set the phone number and off I go.

Any help to get my beloved Linux system going would be greatly
appreciated.

PS. It's not a KPPP/port issue, as I can connect to a different ISP
using a username/password.

Well, it all sounds strange to me, but you can *try*

username ""

and

"" * ""

in /etc/ppp/chap-secrets.

But why would the peer want to use CHAP at all if you can actually
call in and get a viable PPP link without any user identification or
authentication? An ISP that doesn't require authentication is not an
ISP in my book. Anyone that has the ISP's phone number could call in
and use it, which doesn't make sense in a free-enterprise society.

Good Luck.
