not good with newsgroups, be gentle if I am out of place here.

not totally ignorant, I know a MAC address when I see one.

here is my situation.

small windows 2000 network and a D-Link DI-524 router.
I had been using a hub and DIAL UP modem. Got DSL finally here.
yeah!

I had been using an old computer to just run the dial up modem and the
LPT1 port to a designjet plotter.

now the router needs to be 192.168.0.1 and that conflicts with the
computer with the dial up modem. uninstalled the modem, but that old box
is still giving me network problems due to a TCP/IP conflict with the
router.

plotter has networking capability, I can see the T10/100 connection. the
menu can be set to NETWORK. TCP/IP, this I have done.

but I think I have to configure the router and assign an IP there.

then I should be able to wire from the router to the plotter, right?
