Just bought the Netgear WGR614 v5, and it seemed like a simple thing to do!
WRONG! lol

So, I connected all the wires as required (I know this for sure!). Followed
all directions closely. Turned the computer back on, opened my webbroswer
and this http://www.routerlogin.net is supposed to open autmatically. No
such luck. I then tried to manually type it in, still no luck. So, I
unplugged all wires, powered everything down, and started from scratch.
Still no luck.

I'm running WP Pro, and checked to make sure the config was all ok, i.e.,
"obtain an IP address automatically, obtain DNS, etc. It's all correct. I
just cannot hook up to the internet with the router.

Please help!

Further to my last, I bought this router off my brother, who did have it
working. Is there something I may need to do prior to trying to connect
it??

BBF.

For a broadband connection, you need to shut down the modem and the
router for a few minutes. Power up the modem, wait until the lights
stabilize, then power up the router. The router is the connected
computer and you clear the modem's MAC address table by shutting it down
so that when restarted it identifies the router MAC address as the
connected computer. Restart the computer and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the response. After half an hour with online support, I finally
got it fixed and set up. Now I can't get my new laptop to hook up!

For those that may have the same or similar problem in the future it
would be nice if you reported what fixed the problem.

Sounds like he should have been typing in the browser 192.168.x.y for
the router web server instead of a name. This is unless the router
auto-boots a DNS server that contains the name/IP of itself. Don't
think I've seen that one yet.
