Hi everyone,

I'm trying to set up a wireless home network using a Windows 2000 desktop
connected to a SMC Barricade Turbo (SMC2404WBR) wireless router.
I have two clients both running Windows XP Pro, using 802.11b wireless
cards, one is a notebook and the other is a desktop.
I have successfully linked them together through a workgroup and can share
files and printers.

But I only have a dial-up connection to the Internet and couldn't seem to
share the connection, even though I already activated ICS with my primary PC
linked to the router.

I have done some research online and found that I need to deactivate DHCP on
my router (having the W2000 machine with the dial-up to assign the DHCP).
But because I don't have a broadband connection, I cannot get the software
to install for my router, therefore I couldn't turn DHCP off. I tried to use
a third party app: Winroute to assign IP addresses to my clients but it
wouldn't recognize the clients at all (even though I can share
files/hardware).

I even tried assigning static IP addresses to my host and client (using
192.168.0.x, 192.168.2.x, etc.).. still no success. My TCP/IP setup is
currently set back to automatically obtain IP addresses.

Could somebody please offer some advice, what I might be doing wrong?
My Win2000 connection to the router is through one of the LAN ports, I don't
have anything plugged in to the WAN port (no broadband).

I would really like to have a client activate the DUN to the host (possibly
automatically) or simply share the dial-up connection simultaneously.

Please advise, thanks in advance for all your help.

Regards,
Adrian Budiman

Thie above is your proplem.

Use 192.168.0.x, 192.168.0.x+1, etc.

Thanks David for your reply,

I did assign 192.168.0.x, 192.168.0.x+1, etc but it didn't work.
Then I used 192.168.2.x, 192.168.2.x+1, because I read somewhere that the
router DHCP assigned a "2" instead of "0".
That's what I meant in my original post.

I'm still really lost here
