Please help with DFS problems...

Greetings!

I established a DFS Domain Root in a small domain using two domain
controllers, a Win2000 Server and a Win2003 Server. I believe I used the
Win2000 Admin tools to create the DFS root.

I found that it was not replicating after I created a replicated root and
two replicated links. So, I decided to "break" the DFS root (dismantle it)
and then hoped to start over.

Now, using either the Win2000 or Win2003 DFS tools I can neither correctly
DISPLAY the DFS root, even though it indicates that there is one, nor will it
let me
ELIMINATE the root that it seems to have.

So, I'm stuck. What should I do? Is there a tool like dfsutil or something
that can help?

Any insight would be much appreciated. Did I goof somewhere? Is DFS known to
be tempermental of sorts?

Thanks,

Hi George,

Try doing a force removal of the DFS root:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=224384

Also, cross posting to DFS_FRS NG./

Root is not accessible if the root target is removed without removing the
root from DC. For example if there is only 1 root target and that is clean
installed (without deleting the root hosted by machine).

It's advisable before depricating Servers, ensure that it's not hosting the
DFS Root, and if it is, remove from there first.
