I'd appreciate any help - I've searched for days knowing this info has
to be somewhere, but I'm just too ignorant to find it.
Anyways, obviously I'm a neophyte at this networking thing. I'm
trying to set up an 802.11g wireless network to connect a Windows XP
machine and a Windows ME machine.
Here's the components:
(1) Windows XP Machine
(2) Netgear WGR614 802.11g Wireless Router
(3) Netgear WGE101 802.11g Wireless Bridge
(4) Linksys 10/100 Switch
(5) Windows ME Machine
Here's what I am trying to set up:
1-----2* *3-----4----5
Where *=wireless connection.
I set the network up with a long cable between 2 and 4 (eliminating
the bridge), and it works fine. When I remove the hardwire and set up
the bridge, it doesn't work.
Checking the bridge info, I am fairly sure all the settings are
correct - WEP 64-Bit encryped, they are both on the same channel, etc.
For what it's worth, the TCP/IP settings on both machines are set to
"obtain IP address automatically"
What could the problem be ? Am I wrong about being able to use the
bridge to connect to the Router/AP ? I check the status on the
bridge, and it detects the Wireless Network, confirms a connection and
shows packets being sent and received, but I am unable to browse the
other computer or access the internet via the router/AP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm starting to go crazy
trying to get this to work. All responses to this post, please, as I
rarely check my yahoo account (it has been overrun with Viagra ads)
