Hi,

I am planning to build a linux firewall using Ubuntu at home. My
planned network topology is like this.
------------
------------3|
---------- ---------- ------------- ------------2|--
|Internet|<->|Firewall|<->|GigE Switch|<----->|Computer 1|--
| | | DHCP | ------------- -----------
---------- ----------
| --------
|<----->|11g AP|
--------

[Note:Plaintext diagram]

I plan to run the LAN as gige network with Jumbo frames support.
(Already got all the gears ready)

But i heard that, in order to have maximum throughput, all the device
on the LAN side has to be set to jumbo frame. If not any "computer
1,2,3" will have serious throughput limitation.

If that's the case, it seems my choice of the LAN side NIC also needs
to be a GigE NIC even though my internet speed is 1500/384kbps.

Also I have a 11g AP (from a 11g router, will disabled its DHCP
function) in the network, any comments on this particular topology? May
anyone suggest what should I do with my LAN side network?

Thanks,

Spaceboy

Note that most GigE switches don't support jumbo frames. Perhaps yours
does.

The switch did support, I checked the manufacturer specification sheet,
it claims that it support jumbo frames up to 9KBytes.
