I have mp3's on my laptop, can I play them on my desktop? (it has reasonable
speakers)
I could copy them onto the desktop but could I control from the laptop?

I want to be able to play my favourite tunes from the sofa while pissed.

Cheers,
Rick

If you're running XP you can use Remote Desktop Connection - look at
the tabs and tell it to leave sounds on the remote computer.

Try http://www.slimdevices.com/
Download SlimServer 6.2.1 and install on your laptop. This is the music
server.

You also need the Softsqueeze 2.0 music client, which may be included in the
SlimServer package, or from here: http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/ and
install on your desktop.

Softsqueeze exactly emulates the Squeezebox hardware and is a great little
mp3 player.

You may be so impressed that you'll buy a Squeezebox to plug into your hifi
(I did!).

You should be able to access all shared folders via 'other network
places' and workgroup computers available from the explorer window.

The music would open in media player unless you use an alternative.

If you use iTunes, just run it on both machines and enable Music Sharing in
the options on the laptop. That's it.

My computer runs at 3.5MHz and I'm proud of that

Its no problems,, I was doing it the other day from my PC in the House down
to my lap top downstairs in the shop,, just by going to my shared folders
and double clicking the MP3 it then opens on the lap top on a 54mb wireless
connection and plays without problem.

I want it to play on the desktop, but I want to select it from the laptop.

The epitome of laziness I know.
