Playing direct connect game from behind two firewalls.

A friend of mine and I would like to play a direct-connect game over
our lunch breaks. I say direct connect, because there really is no
server involved, per se (in the BattleNet sort of sense). The problem
is, we are both behind company firewalls. I have the hardware and the
time to set up a linux firewall/VPN server on my home network. If I do
so, will we be able to VPN into my home network and play this game
with him? If so, are there any specific docs or HOWTOs I should look
at (aside from the standard firewall and VPN HOWTOs)? Is there maybe a
simpler solution?

Thanks,
Roger
