pipex upgrade to 1mb wireless problem

please help im no computer expert,i have a draytek vigor2600g wireless
router and 2 desktops and 1 laptop all working wireless at home no
problem,all getting speeds of 512mbs. pipex have upgraded me to 1mb
broadband but my speed on all machines are unchanged.do i have to
change router and network cards to something higher spec to cope?

Are you sure? What does the status page of the router tell you? Are you
getting the speed from the router, an Internet/Firefox download progress
display or are you looking at the network icon in the bottom right hand
corner of your screen for the speed?

yes i am looking at the icon in bottom right hand corner. i have since
tried the adsl modem that pipex supplied and that shows 2.2mbps and the
pages download very quickly

Presumably you have rebooted the router to re-connect at a higher speed?
Try a factory reset. Weird how these things ar sometimes.

sorry my icon reads 52.0 mbps all i want to know is if i need to change
my router and cards or as these ok and there is a problem elsewhere. i
have rebooted router.

Your icon is telling you the link speed between PC and router. you need
to check the speed between router and exchange / internet.
1) Check the router control page, browse at 192.168.1.1 and read the
'online status' page results.
2) Do the ADSLguide speed test and compare to 1

If anything in the receive side is not about 1Mb/s and is nearer 512kb/s
you may have a problem.
