How can you say Pipex are crap I mean after answering the phone and
choosing which option you want they do answer the phone within an hour
! and another good point about Pipex is that if you choose say the
option for customer services you ALWAYS connect with technical support
who will kindly put you through to customer services and they in turn
do answer the phone after waiting yet up to another hour .
Further more and very strange and very commendable they offer a free
modem when you sign up with them but they seem very reluctant to send
out the modem . I was activated six weeks ago and still have not
received the modem and I have called them three times up to now and
gone through the routine of waiting up to two hours each call . In my
book they have not fulfilled their part of the contract by not
supplying the modem in a timely fashion which has made me so impressed
with them that I have canceled their DD at the bank .
I am so impressed with their excellent service that I can heartily
recommend NO ONE to sign up with them .

Me neither. Have a Pipex a/c at home and at work. Both have been
solid, reliable and good speed connections over an 18 month period.
Binary news server is a waste of time, but the text news server is fine.

To get around the binary problem, use "open" servers, and set up a Linux
news server, or go for a program like NewsPlex.

Ordered Monday morning working with supplied modem Friday afternoon!

Can't say I am a fan of USB modems. But it was free and I keep it as a spare.

I see from the Whois database that nospam.net is a domain registered by
Ultimate Search of Hong Kong. I know that people are rightly wary of
using their real addy on newsgroups, but not sure that they should
piggy-back onto someone else's domain if they have not paid for it. But
then again, the domain nospam.net does actually does belong to you?

I'm very happy with Pipex, never had a real problem.

I now use the nntp.dsl.pipex.com for news groups.
