please pass this on to the main pipex groups ...i cant access them
through google groups

Speedtouch 330 modem

if anyone having trouble with speed with these devices ...

seems that they are set up not to go over 4mb download ...

Ive now fixed the trouble .........

and my speed has just gone up from 3380 avarage to 5250...almosty 2 mb
more !!!!

in not with pipex anymore

im with adsl24

but couldnt get over 3800..despite the line being tested well above
this.

to fix this problem ...

first do a restore point on system restore....incase it goes wrong

then

go to

http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/c...&ProductID=471

scroll down to

"Release 3.01 UK (**JUNE 2007 UPDATE**) - Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP"

download file called

"Windows Driver (All Broadband Speeds)"

save it to your desktop.......It will be saved as st-330 update

and install st-330 update from the desktop

update as per instructions ......you wont loose your internet settings
(but note down your log-in details just in case)

turn off comp .............

come back on line ............go back to page link above and scroll
down to

"MICELANEOUS"

press on link entitled

"Changing the ST-330 mode to support download speeds between 4M and
8M"

read the info there and ......

download file from link called
"registry update"

save it on the desktop it will be saved as "USB ISO"

disconnect from internet and turn off the modem from the baternburgh
cake looking object next to your clock

install the file called

"USB ISO" from your desktop

once completed ....... disconnect modem ...from usb port...then
reconnect ..............then do a restart on the computer.

you now have a modem that is capable of over 4mb download
speed ..........check to see if it been changed from bulk to
isochronouse....if it hasn't just repeat the disconnect modem routine
and turn off comp.

if it then shows you are isochronous and you cant get over 4000
mb ........then .....your line is incapable ..........or there are
other issues.

IF THIS LOOK COMPLICATED ..........it isn't .

this has worked on my xp pro pc ...........

vista and mac ............dont know .......but there are files there
in the above link ....to do the same thing

All the best.....markj

Thank you for this!

I can't get over 4Mb here, but installing the update has had 2 effects:

connecting no longer opens Opera to Pipex page

and

the connection has gone to 2.3Mb! Brilliant!
