Pipex billing

I've just had the direct debit payment taken from my bank account for
the Xtreme Standard Solo 1000. However, they have taken £25.76 this
month inc VAT (£21.92 net).

I have always paid £23.44 (£19.95 net) in the past, why the price
increase? I haven't been given any notification of a change to pricing.
Is this right? Has there been a price rise and I've missed it or is this
an error?

Time to find another provider, think I might give Sky a chance. I've had
enough of Pipex now!

I have, but it's a bank holiday and they are notoriously slow and
useless in the billing and accounts department anyway. I was wondering
if anyone else had been charged the same as me, or the normal £19.95.
That would just help me get my facts straight, if it is a genuine price
increase then I guess that's fair enough, I've never had an increase and
I've been with Pipex since 2002.

However, on the other hand I've only stayed with Pipex for ease, but it
really isn't good value for money any more. If they are going to charge
me more, I'll go and get a better deal with another ISP.

Yes we had about £27 charged instead of the usual £23 something.

According to the direct debit guarantee they must give you ten days
notice of any change in charges, otherwise they are not allowed the
money. We complained to our bank who instantly reversed the charges.
Pipex never produced a coherent explanation for them, though they did
try that ir was to compensate for febuary having only 28 days?

Anway after getting no were we left pipex and told them if they sent
us a final statement we would send them a cheque. They never have
though they do call us up now and again but never seem to know whats
going on. They did try to remove the money be bacs which is really
abusing the direct debit system but luckily we were paying attention
and so got the bank to cancel it again.

Normally when the billing goes haywire and the computers down it means
the companies is in trouble, though in pipex's case they may just be
incompetent. At any rate you really can't stand for companies billing
random amounts by direct debit as they could charge anything.

This sounds like rubbish to me, I was charged less for February because
it has 28 days which is fair. They seem to be trying to insinuate that
somehow March is longer as a result! But the last time I checked it
still only had 30 days and so should be charged at the standard rate.

Thank you for bringing the direct debit guarantee to my attention, this
could be useful. I'll call my bank Tuesday morning for advice.

You can get the advice here.

Just call your bank and *demand* the refund.

Umm... yeah, 31 but it still should be a standard monthly rate.

actually I used 0800 1075902 for my many calls over a three week
period. Its the number people recieved on a warning letter but seemed
to go to the same place as all the other numbers and was free.
