pipex b/band wireless router?

Hi,

AIA if this has been asked before,

I have a m8 who has just moved and has found out that his has come a cropper
with his present wireless router as regards new isp.

Simple question,

Recommendations for wireless router on pipex b/band

Any router with built in adsl modem that is sold in the UK will do, nothing
special needed for Pipex, it's the same as any other ADSL service (other
than AOL which is picky).

Now if they have bought a router that has no modem in it, like you would if
you have cable broadband, or already have an ethernet ADSL modem, then you
either need to purchase an ethernet ADSL modem and connect it to the router,
or cheaper/easier to buy the router with ADSL modem built in. You would
have exactly the same problems with all other ADSL ISPs.

Thats what has exactly happen router straight into stb job done, but present
ISP not avaible in new area.

i was just trying to get a preference for router/modem when it came to adsl
isp in particular the formention.

Actually that is not true the Wannado wifi box is crippled & a couple
of other ISPs have been known to do likewise with kit they supply

You could go for one of the netgear range for a budget price router,
won't go far wrong with the Draytek Vigor 2600 if you can get your
hands on one, as the prices are falling due to the release of the 2800
or if you want to blow the bank you could try Cisco...

There you go you pays your money & takes your choice (go with the
Draytek & you won't go far wrong)

wireless dongle. Think I paid £70 at the time for it.

It has a simple user control panel and very easy to setup...

Yes Netgear are pretty good, LinkSys too. I have always installed LinkSys
routers for people, I have installed a couple of Netgears when I haven't
been able to get the LinkSys routers at the right price, and they have
preformed well, though I still prefer LinkSys.

Belkin routers people always seem to have problems with.
