Discard Pings only make your network less visible. Ping
just send a message to a computer and waits for the
response (it's often used to verify a network connection
is working and how fast it is -- you can try by going to
Command Prompt and entering Ping followed by a domain
name -- e.g. Ping microsoft.com)
You may also want to forward port 113 (IDENT) to a non
existing IP. Then your network is fully in stealth mode
(it is not visible from outside).
You may also consider installing a software firewall. If
you are using 802.11b, enable WEP and change password
daily (WEP is breakable once enough wireless data has
circulated). for 802.11g (MN700 only) enable WAP.
Independently of the router, one need to be careful what
gets installed on the computer (some virus or malware
open backdoors), either from floppies, CD-ROM's,
dowloading, or e-mail attachments.
