Why is it I can Ping the other machines on my wireless network but cannot
view them in explorer - even though I've set the sharing up correctly on
each. Wierder still why do the connections sometimes work and others not??

It would help if the NIC's on the machines were using Netbeui or Netbios
and not a mixture of the protocols.

1) If you are running a firewall, disable it while you establish your
'network neighborhood'.
2) Insure you have 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks'
attached to the NIC.
3) Enable NetBios over TCP/IP

If that doesn't establish the network, check the NodeType. If it is 2 or
the DHCPNodeType is 2 and there is no NodeType, in the absence of a WINS
server, the systems cannot find each other.

To set the NodeType, run regedit.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SYSTEM|CurrentControlSet|Servic es|NerBT|Parameters

Change it to 4 or 8 or create it with a value of 4 or 8.

Typo, NerBT should be NetBT
