Hi! I have a problem with a machine running win98. I am
unable to ping certain internet addresses yet I can still
get to those addresses in IE. It is causing problems
accessing those sites from actual programs though.

Specifically, Family Tree Maker swears the problem with
registering and accessing their site is a Windows problem
not on their end. I cannot ping them but I can access
them in the browser, just not from their software.

Any ideas what I'm talking about? Or how to fix it?

Denise

If you have any firewall software installed, uninstall it.

Did you have a firewall installed in the past?
