Ping function

Hi:

I have home network connectivity between a server running
98SE and 2 clients each running XP home edition. I have a
dial-up connection and the server can surf the Internet
without any problems. I can ping each computer from any
of the three and I get 4 good responses. If I ping
Yahoo.com or Google.com from the server, I get 4 Time Out
responses.
Is this an issue worth pursuing, or it's a moot point
since the Internet connectivity works? The TCP/IP
settings for the external adapter are set
to "automatically detect", and the internal adapter is
set to 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.25.255.0, etc.

Thanks.

Adam

can you browse to those external sites? It could be that your ISP is
blocking ICMP.

Hi:

Yes, the Websites are accessible. I was concerned that
the inability to ping any site suggested that there was
an error in my configuration. Since browsing works, maybe
I won't exhaust this (non)issue.

It could be that Google.com and Yahoo.com block ICMP pings on their end.
