I am looking for a recommendation for an antenna to solve a special
problem. I live in a high rise building with a clear view of wall
street across the east river. I can receive very faint (10-15%)
Verizon signals. I know they are coming from Manhattan because there
are no Verizon hotspots in Brooklyn yet. Sometimes, I even connect
for just a momment.

Anyway, I can receive the verizon signal, but obviously my setup is
not powerful enough for the hotspot to see me. I am upgrading to a
netgear wge100 bridge and would like to add a high-gain antenna. Do
you have an antenna that would be effective at about a mile, can sit
on my window sill and penetrate the double glazed windows. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Directional antennas with gain up to 16dB are available. In fact, several
suppliers offer them with suction cup antenna mounts. To go above 16dB, you'll
need a grid type antenna, wich will be too large for a window mount.

Chuck, Can you be more specific as to where in Brooklyn you live?
Believe it or not, you may have a neighbor living on the 28th floor of
a nearby apartment building trying to do the EXACT SAME THING! You
may be able to use his WiFi signal. Go figure. Me
