I have CIFS share.. which i want to be permanetly mapped on all of my server..
Reason being.. i run netbackup everynight on all the server..and i want all
the backup data to go into the same mapped drive....

In otherwords.. is there any way to have permanent drive mapping
available..even if user dont log in.. also i tried to create a service and
run.. if so that drive mapping works.. but the service starts and stops
automatically..

is ther a way to have permanent drive mapping in windows 2003..

Thanks.. mail me at (E-Mail Removed).. or post your much needed replies here..

thanks.

1. use net use with persistent switch.
2. You may want to disable autodisconnection.

Connectivity 1) You may want to disable autodisconnection by using "net server /disconnect:-1" on the server hosting the mapped drives. 2) If you are running W2K/XP ...

Robert,

Thanks for responding,by what i understand is that autodisconnection disable
is required on the server on which i have mapped drives, and there is no need
to go for a service and all that stuff.. but does this work for win2k3 also..

Robert another thing which i wanted to put emphasis on is that we need to
have drive mapping even if user do not log in.. mean permanently mapping the
drive..on server...

is is possible.. in win2k3..like even if user logs off it still stays...just
as a local drive..
