Hello all
I would like to use my old wireless-network-device (Netgar MA521; based
on Realtek 8180 chipset) with my gentoo-linux machine. Since there
isn't native support for this chipset through the kernel
(gentoo-sources-2.6.13-r1) I have to use ndiswrapper, version 1.2.
After installing the actual driver from Netgear, I alwayas need to
remove the device, run 'ndiswrapper -hotplug' and plug in the card
again. After this, the device appears as wlan0 in iwconfig with link
quality of 100%, but when I want to scan, I can not find any access
points in range. In addition, there are strange system-performance
issues. For example, latency between a keystroke and appearance on the
screen about 3 seconds and so on..
After removing the card, everything is okay.
When plugged in, lspci lists the device with the correct name, and
dmesg doesn't report any errors.
All kernel-modules I need for PCMCIA are loaded correctly and wireless
support is staticly compiled into kernel.
I hope somebody can give me a hint to solve the problem.
Best regards,
Matthias Schilder
