Peer to Peer troubles

Our network users often connect peer to peer instead of to the
infrastructure AP's. I think XP is "trying to help" with setting up the
connection even when we are set to "infrastructure only" in the XP wireless
configuration.
We've tried to install the manufacturers wireless card utility and disable
wireless zero but the utilities won't load. ( into XP op. systems)
Any suggestions?

Try unplugging the card, then restart the operating system, then
uncheck the little box in the network configuration screen that
says something like "Let windows control the card.." and hit the
"apply" button, then install the wireless software for the card,
then plug the card back in...

I'm not a windows user but I watched one do this and it solved a
similar problem.
