Peer in Netstumber

Netstumbler reported that there were two types of wireless devices
detected, one is AP and the other is Peer.

Does Peer post security risk to a network? What are the risk to be?

Any info is much appreciated.

It can, peering to an unsecured computer, then bridging to a wired
network.
