Hi,
I have setup an wireless network with Server2003, IAS and WindowsXP SP2
clients. All according to the MS Guide "Securing Wireless LANs with PEAP and
Passwords" Everytihin is working fine expet for one thing.
When the client is starting up, and shows the screen "Applying computer
settings" it takes more than a minute before the Ctrl-Alt-Delte sign shows.
I use Nortel AP´s and Nortel 2270 Security switch.

And this is for most of my clients, but not all....

Does any one have a clue what´s the cause of this behaviur?

If you have not setup your computer accounts to authenticate, then they will
not be able to get a DHCP address. Its likely that your machines are
waiting for DHCP to timeout before continuing.

If this is the case, computer setting (GPO) is not being applied.

Cheers,

Look in the Event Viewer of the IAS server and on the client computer for
any pertinent messages. There could be some lag time between when the
wireless authenticates the user and their Group Policy, etc is refreshed in
that they may initial being logged on with cached credentials and then the
wireless authenticates them to the domain controller. In general a wireless
domain logon will be quite a bit more delayed than a regular lan logon with
some hardware wireless working better than others. There is also a Microsoft
wireless newsgroup that you may find helpful. --- Steve
