PCs deleted from domain

I work for a company that has a large network and we have had some XP pc
accounts deleted from our domain, problem I have is they are very remote and
I am trying to avoid having to visit each site.
We can ping the pcs successfully and receive a reply but cannot get to C$
shares or remote manage at all. The only way we have found to readd them is
to take pcs off domain and put them into a workgroup and them readd them
back onto the domain which works but you have to do this at the pc.
Much appreciated if anyone knows of a way of doing this remote.

Thank you.

The reason these computer accounts have been deleted is an error, a policy
that cleaned the container of accounts not used for too short a period which
has now been removed.

If you have any remote access (GoToMyPC, LogMeIn, whatever) you can disjoin
and rejoin the domain remotely.

OK, I didn't read "remote manage" as "get a console connection using
anything" :-)

We've had this problem as well. It has occurred on various servers in the
domain, and a few with some regularity. All of these systems have had nearly
regular daily usage. We do have at least one where it happens frequently
and have even rebuilt the unit to try and minimize the problem. The user
name was also changed with apparently no impact.

We have also noticed that it is not necessary to reboot the system after
setting it to a workgroup. Once the workgroup has been defined simply
redefine the unit as part of the domain. We typically reboot after that.
