PCI Network Controller

Hi!

I'm reinstalling Win98 SE on a 500GHz computer, and in the Device Manager I
get an Unknown Device called PCI Network Controller with an yellow question
mark attached.

I think this problem is the reason why I can't install the ISDN modem for a
dial up connection to the net properly.

Is there anybody in this NG who can help me?

You need to determine the brand name and model number of the network card
and install drivers for it.

The thing is that there is no network card installed, besides this ISDN
card...

500 GHz? That is one fast computer! It can't possibly be a PC (nobody
has made chips that fast), so how do you expect it to run Win98? ;-)

If it's bogus, then click on it, click on Remove, and delete it.
Problem solved.

Since you don't say the manner in which the installation fails, any
substantive comment would be mere speculation.

That would be it. If you don't know for sure check with your ISDN provider
since they'll know what hardware was provided.

Yeah it's a fast one.....sorry 500MHz :-)))

To remove it just pops up during reboot, and asks for a driver.
Then I put in the CD with drivers from the vendor, and the Win98 CD, and ask
it to search itself, but it will not find any driver at all.
I have tried every CD on the planet I guess, but in vain. No driver found.

Just a thought - is there a setup file on the CD? I've encountered some that
have all the required files compressed, the setup routine un (de-)compresses
and then installs, otherwise they're "hidden".
