Well, maybe I'm too into neatness, but I guess I want my router/firewall to
fit into a clean 1U slot in my rack. A DSL router means that I'll need to
slap a non-conforming object on a shelf. And about specialty cards...I'm a
huge fan of the frame relay/T1 PCI card. If I may carry on here for a bit,
that's what I think makes Linux so great. I truly believe that it makes a
better solution than whatever Cisco has to offer and at a fraction of the
cost. Plus it allows you to be lazy and leverage tools that we already know
(IPTables, Perl, shell scripts, SQL).
You can do nifty things like place your ACLs and routes in a database,
create web front ends for management, etc. etc. It's a computer, thus you
can basically do anything with it.
I *like* the specialty card!

I'll take a look The only one that I *know* is compatible with my current
DSL setup is the Intel 2200. However, there doesn't seem to be a Linux
driver for that (at least according to the posts I read). I'm going to
download a new kernel and see if I happen to see it in there.
